About

Who and What I am

First and foremost, I am in no way trying to showcase my photography skills through this site. Truth be told, I have a pretty good camera and keep it on the automatic setting most of the time. While I have gotten lucky enough to get some pretty nice looking shots, my purpose here is to show the beauty of these animals and include interesting facts to hopefully build an appreciation for even the smallest, and sometimes most unappreciated critters in our world. I should also say I don’t claim to know all of the facts I write about on the fly. When I write a post, I include lots of information that I happen to know personally, but I also research and find more interesting tidbits of information that I include here, but might not necessarily retain.

I would love to tell of that one magical moment where I realized wildlife was my passion. However, it has been for as long as I can remember. I started from a very young age wandering around outside, catching bugs, lizards, and really anything that couldn’t outrun me or harm me in some way. I’ve always had an appreciation and interest in those animals that are usually overlooked or even hated by most people. I remember my parents getting me a book called The Unhuggables by Victor Waldrop that tells of the truth about scary, gross, and just plain ugly animals, which just furthered my interests.

Growing up through the years, I never stopped wanting to learn about all facets of nature. I dabbled in marine biology, veterinary sciences, and animal husbandry. I received a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and a Master’s in Environmental Science and Policy. Now I am fortunate enough to have built a career in the field of wildlife biology, among other things. This allows me to get a close-up view of wildlife and observe their behaviors. I am constantly learning new things about numerous different species and love spreading that knowledge to others, which is why I started this site. I sincerely hope you find it interesting and informative!
